According to the governor, terrorists opened fire on vegetable producers in Burkina Faso on Saturday, killing at least 33 people as the government seeks to suppress an insurgency.

In March, eight of Burkina Faso’s thirteen regions, including western Boucle du Mouhoun, announced a state of emergency.

According to Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga, the farmers were attacked on Thursday evening about 5:00 p.m. (1700 GMT).
