ISLAMABAD: Today News stated that a district and sessions court in Islamabad granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a day’s remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
The directives were made by Judicial Magistrate Ehtisham Alam Khan, who directed the investigating officer to present Qureshi again tomorrow.
Qureshi, the former foreign minister, was detained on Saturday evening in Islamabad.
The first information report (FIR), a copy of which is accessible to ARY News, was filed under the Official Secrets Act on August 15. It was filed in response to the Home Secretary’s complaint.
The article named former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, as well as former Principal Secretary Azam Khan and former Planning Minister Asad Umar.
According to the article, authorities would also take action against Azam Khan and Asad Umar after determining that they were also engaged in mishandling confidential material.
According to the FIR, the previous prime minister and foreign minister falsified the diplomatic cipher’s facts. “A plot was launched to exploit the contents of the cypher for nefarious purposes,” it stated. It went on to say that the former premier and senior diplomat jeopardized the state’s interests.
According to the report, the former prime minister directed Azam Khan, the then-principal secretary, to “manipulate the contents of cypher.” “The former premier purposefully kept the copy of diplomatic cypher that was sent to the PM office,” it said.
