SHEIKHUPURA – At least 20 people, including women and children, were injured after two trains crashed near Qilla Sattar Shah in Sheikhupura area on Sunday, according to witnesses and rescuers.
The injured were sent to a local hospital, where five people are claimed to be critically ill. The passenger train on its route to Mianwali collided with a freight train that was already stopped on the main railway line.
According to a Pakistan Railways official, the track was cleared about 7:30 a.m., and train operations in the Lahore division are proceeding normally.
He stated that the Mianwali Express, which was involved in an accident, continued its voyage after the track was cleaned and some repairs were made.
Following the incident, Ferozewala Kundian shed driver Muhammad Imran and assistant driver Muhammad Bilal were suspended from their jobs.
