(Web Desk) – US President Donald Trump has urged US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to assist in strengthening diplomatic ties between Pakistan and India, following a successful effort to broker a massive truce between the two countries.
Speaking at a Middle East event, Trump said, “I believe they’re actually getting along now. Marco, perhaps we can bring them together a little more.
He continued: “Maybe they can even go out for a nice dinner together.”
Trump stated that commerce had an important part in establishing the truce.
“I told them, let’s make a deal. Let’s trade commodities, not nuclear weapons. “Trade what you create with such excellence,” he stated.
On Tuesday, Trump received a $600 billion pledge from Saudi Arabia to invest in the United States after the oil giant threw out the red carpet for him at the start of a Gulf visit.
Trump punched the air as he stepped off Air Force One to be met by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who later inked a deal with the president in Riyadh on oil, defense, mining, and other issues.
Saudi Arabia’s investment promise includes what the US calls the largest defense sales pact between allies, totaling about $142 billion.
Yesterday, Trump claimed that US assistance helped prevent a nuclear war between Pakistan and India, which agreed to a truce after tensions rose.
“We avoided a nuclear war. It might have been a terrible conflict with millions of victims. “I’m extremely proud of that,” Trump told reporters in Washington.
Trump praised both nations’ leadership for their “unshakable” dedication in negotiating the truce.
Trump praised his administration for negotiating the recent cease-fire agreement between Pakistan and India.
Trump claimed that, while trade talks with India are already happening, similar negotiations would take place with Pakistan.
