ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The Supreme Court (SC) issued an order on Wednesday ordering the closure of illegitimate private university campuses across the country.
The case was heard by a three-member court led by Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
During the proceedings, the court ordered that the Higher Education Commission’s policies be followed (HEC). The Supreme Court stated that no compromise on youth higher education can be accepted.
The Higher Education Commission has stated that institutions are not permitted to construct district campuses.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial has ordered the federal and provincial governments to work together to preserve the country’s educational standards. If HEC is weak, we will order the federation to alter legislation, he stated.
Meanwhile, according to lawyer Ali Zafar, the students went to the Lahore High Court (LHC) to dispute their degrees. According to him, the court thoroughly examined the evidence and declared the campuses to be unlawful.
