The Punjab government has petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the decision on the LHC Ravi Riverfront Project.

The Punjab government has appealed the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) decision in the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project issue to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

In its appeal, the provincial administration claims that all norms and procedures were followed prior to the start of the project. The petition asks the court to overturn the high court’s decision.

The LHC had already declared certain elements of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (Ruda) Act 2020 illegal, thereby scrapping the government’s Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project.

Justice Shahid Karim, who announced a reserved decision on several petitions, also called the project’s acquisition of agricultural property unlawful and a violation of individuals’ fundamental rights.
