AJK LA was convened on Monday to select a new Prime Minister.

After the session was prorogued owing to a Supreme Court decision earlier on Saturday, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood called the Legislative Assembly session on Monday to choose the next prime minister.

Following the resignation of Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, the opposition deemed the session called by the speaker to consider a no-confidence motion unlawful and secured a restraining order from the High Court.

Sardar Tanveer Aliyas, the prime ministerial candidate, then filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the High Court’s judgement, which was issued on Saturday.
