Bangladesh’s Mehidy has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka Test due to injury.

Bangladesh experienced a setback ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka next month as off-spinner Mehidy Hasan was ruled out of at least the opening match due to a finger injury.

Mehidy has been a consistent starter in Tests for Bangladesh, and he is the country’s third-highest wicket-taker in the format, as well as a solid lower-order batsman.

Manzur Hossain, a medical with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, told AFP that the 24-year-old broke his right little finger during a local tournament over the weekend.

“His finger had fractured, according to the X-ray. He is definitely ruled out of the first Test and is also uncertain for the second Test against Sri Lanka, which usually takes four weeks to recover from “Manzur stated.
