Following the announcement of three new polio cases, the government has decided to begin a statewide immunisation campaign from May 23 to May 29.
Previous efforts, according to a Ministry of Health official, were restricted to certain locations, but this campaign will be implemented nationwide.
“The Government of Pakistan is dedicated to eliminating polio and focused on well-coordinated efforts at both the federal and provincial levels to realise Pakistan’s objective of being a polio-free country,” said Health Minister Qadir Patel in a statement.
He emphasised the importance of parents and caregivers in ensuring the success of future immunisation efforts.
