LAHORE – In an effort to apprehend Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday night, a sizable police presence once again encircled Zaman Park, a neighbourhood of Lahore where the PTI chairman’s home is situated, according to A-News.
Several police officers, according to reports, are stationed close to Zaman Park. Also, police have shut all of Zaman Park’s entrances and exits, and they have barricaded the roadways.
According to sources, three prisoner vans and other police cars are reportedly patrolling the regions around Zaman Park, and for Imran Khan’s safety, the local PTI leadership and a sizable number of workers are stationed outside his home.
The PTI employees who are now in the vicinity said that they are not worried of the prisoner vans and substantial police presence around Zaman Park. They also chanted phrases supporting Imran Khan and criticising the police. Barricades were also taken down from the highways by PTI employees.
Imran Khan’s request for precautionary bail is rejected by the LHC
Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former prime minister, filed a plea with the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday, asking for precautionary bail after he failed to show up for court.
Imran Khan has until 6:30 p.m. to appear before the court, according to the court. The PTI chairman was given a chance to appear in court, but he chose not to, therefore the two-member LHC panel rejected his appeal.
After having his release revoked by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in a case brought against him for staging a demonstration outside the ECP headquarters on Wednesday, Mr. Khan submitted the protective bail plea.
But, the high court required Mr. Khan to personally appear in the case in order to be released on bail and ordered him to do so until 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The appellant should be brought before the court on a stretcher or in the ambulance till 8 o’clock, if required, Judge Tariq Saleem Sheikh had said.
Mr. Khan said in his plea that he was a law-abiding citizen who wanted to submit to the court. Protective bail should be granted to him since he intended to submit a new interim bail plea to the court, according to the plea.
The argument further claimed that Mr. Khan was named in the lawsuit to be politically victimised. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) allegedly rejected Mr. Khan’s request for a medical appearance exemption and the bail request.
