Elections need to take place simultaneously throughout the nation: Sanaullah Rana

RAWALPINDI : Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the general elections should go place simultaneously nationwide since the election date is much sought after.

The security chief said that his “party is completely prepared” for the polls while speaking to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers’ convention on Sunday in Rawalpindi. They were unafraid of the elections, he continued.

Hours before to Sanaullah’s comments, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) excused itself from meeting with President Arif Alvi to discuss elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the time being, citing that the topic is already being reviewed by the judiciary.

It is important to note that the election commissioner was called by the president on Friday for a “urgent meeting” on Monday (tomorrow) to discuss the election’s schedule, chastising him for the ECP’s “poignant attitude.”

The president was also criticised a day earlier by the interior minister, who urged him to respect his constitutional authority since he had nothing to do with the election schedule.
Sanaullah retaliated against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, saying that the government’s reaction will be “far beyond his imagination” in reference to his “Jail Bharo Tehreek” (court arrest movement).

The interior minister asserts that Khan’s goal is to bring anarchy and instability to the nation.
