PM Shehbaz receives a broadside from Parvez Elahi.

LAHORE – On Sunday, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a former chief minister of Punjab, took aim at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, claiming that he was proving to be unfit for the nation.

Mr. Elahi attacked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), saying that “the PML-N lacks the audacity to compete with Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.” Mr. Elahi said that the PML-N had lost its foothold in Punjab and that it had no future there.

Mr. Elahi continued to criticise PM Shehbaz, saying, “PM Shehbaz turns out to be the country’s most ineffective dictator.”

Even Maryam Nawaz, senior vice president of the PML-N, is unable to carry the weight of Shehbaz’s incapacity.”

The effort to relaunch Maryam upon his return from London has once again been stymied, he also informed Ms. Nawaz.

Mr. Elahi attacked the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), claiming that it “may even stoop to the practises of breaking the constitution for the sake of ruling.”

In his remarks on the PTI’s “Jail Bharo Campaign,” Mr. Elahi praised the PTI members for expressing their support for judicial arrest.” He also lauded Pakistanis residing overseas in this respect.

He bemoaned the arrests of PTI supporters, saying they were against the law.
