Comsats University fires a professor for posing a “objectionable question” in a quiz.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Comsats University Islamabad (CUI) has fired a professor for reportedly asking a “objectionable” question in an exam on the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) program’s English composition.

On February 2, the CUI administration informed the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) that it had launched an investigation into the quiz’s content. The letter said that the administration had already taken action and that the lecturer’s (visiting faculty) services will be terminated on January 5, 2023. It went on to say that the faculty member had also been banned.

Pupils were “startled” when they saw the question requiring them to write 300 words on the subject.

According to Assistant Registrar Naveed Ahmed Khan, when the rector summoned the professor to explain the situation, he accepted his error, which resulted in his dismissal. “He stole the query from Google,” he said. He said that the quiz had been retaken.

A faculty member questioned the examination procedure, asking why the subject had to be considered only after the students raised it. He was sceptical that the professor had been fired when the government became aware of the occurrence.
