Bilawal threatens to resign from ministries if the government fails to keep pledges.

KARACHI — Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged the federal government to honour its pledges or risk losing ministries.

At a ceremony in Karachi, he said that the Sindh government was offering all possible assistance to flood victims whose homes and livelihoods had been damaged by the recent flood, and that a focus on agriculture was critical to improving the economy.

He emphasised that Sindh was the only state selling 40 kg sugarcane for Rs4,000, and that when the Pakistan Peoples Party came to office, Pakistan’s export volume was relatively low, but former President Asif Ali Zardari worked heavily on the agricultural sector to bring relief to farmers.

The PPP chairman said that small farmers will be helped via the Benazir Income Support Program, and that the federal government should fulfil its promises to flood victims.

He went on to say that the floods damaged five million acres of crops and wrecked devastation on the agricultural industry.
