LAHORE – According to reports, Jahangir Tareen, the unhappy PTI leader, presented the name of his much-anticipated political organisation on Wednesday, giving him political momentum in the wake of the PTI’s widespread defections.
According to sources, the name of his party will be “Pakistan Istehkam Party (PIP)”.
After the PTI had significant defections on the national and provincial levels, which weakened the PTI’s standing in the nation, he became the talk of the town.
Murad Raas, a PTI defector, had joined Mr. Tareen’s faction, giving the politician an apparent huge triumph. In the company of Abdul Aleem Khan and Awn Chaudhry, Mr. Raas visited Mr. Tareen. Along with other lawmakers, like Hashim Dogar and others, Mr. Rass had said goodbye to the PTI.
A day earlier, Raja Yawar Kamal, Mamoon Tarar, and Rai Aslam—three members of the PTI’s “Hashim Dogar group”—joined Mr. Tareen’s political team.
As he prepares to start a new political party, Mr. Tareen organised a three-person committee including Awn Chaudhry, Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, and Ishaq Khakwani to recruit defectors.
The group resolved to get in touch with influential KP members, such as former party leader Parvez Khattak. Fawad Chaudhry, a former senior vice president of the PTI, and Firdous Ashiq Awan had previously met with Mr. Tareen.
