45,000 tonnes of crude oil landed in Pakistan from Russia through Oman.
Russian crude oil is being unloaded from a cargo ship at Karachi Port Trust’s PRL Terminal.
The shipment of 45,000 tonnes of crude oil from Russia to Pakistan through Oman was the first of its sort in the country’s history. Another shipment of Russian crude oil comprising 55,000 barrels will arrive at Karachi port next week.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Information Minister, said that the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fulfilled the pledge of delivering crude oil from Russia to Pakistan.
“A cargo ship carrying discounted crude oil from Russia has arrived in Karachi.” “This is the first Russian oil ship in Pakistani history,” she continued.
According to the information minister, it is known as the fulfilment of promises, the capacity and purpose to address the issues of the country and the nation—it is known as real people service.
“As usual, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif keeps his promises to the people.” “A year of hard work and honesty is paying off,” she continued.
The first shipment of cheap Russian crude oil provided under a new arrangement agreed between Islamabad and Moscow landed in Karachi on Sunday, according to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“Glad to announce that the first Russian discounted crude oil cargo has arrived in Karachi and will begin oil discharge tomorrow,” Sharif said in a tweet.
“This is the first ever Russian oil cargo to Pakistan, and it marks the beginning of a new relationship between Pakistan and the Russian Federation,” he continued.

It is worth noting that the Gulf and Arab suppliers—primarily Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—supply around 80 percent of Pakistan’s oil demand of approximately 154,000 barrels per day.
In principle, the 100,000 bpd from Russia would significantly lessen Pakistan’s reliance on conventional gasoline imports.
