The cost of sacrificed animals has escalated significantly as Eid-ul-Azha approaches.

Most impromptu markets for animal sacrifice in Lahore and Karachi are drawing a sizable number of prospective customers. The majority of visitors, however, were seen leaving without buying any animals. When questioned, they gave the explanation that the cost of the sacrificed animals had skyrocketed.

According to cattle breeders, high transportation and feeding costs are primary causes of price increases.

The low-income and salaried classes have been hardest hit by the high costs of sacrificed animals.

This year, the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) has designated 10 locations for the construction of temporary cattle markets and sales outlets.
