LAHORE – Parvez Elahi, a former chief minister of Punjab, was granted bail on Tuesday by a banking court in a case involving money laundering.
The judgment was made public by judge Aslam Gondal.
Elahi was required to produce bonds totaling Rs. 500,000 by the court. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), according to the judge, did not comply since it refused to produce the record in spite of the court’s order.
After Elahi was freed from prison, the FIA detained him in connection with a money laundering investigation.
