Earlier in June, it was reported that the fatal accident on the Salt Range section of the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway that killed 13 people was caused by ‘criminal’ carelessness, according to a complaint filed by the motorway police at the Kallar Kahar police station.
According to the complaint, passengers reported problems with the bus to the bus owner and the station manager, but their complaints were rejected.
At least 32 persons were on board the bus when it lost control around Point 224 of the Lahore-Islamabad highway, crashing over the safety barrier and crushing an incoming car on the opposite track.
The collision highlighted the important issue of road safety in the country once more. The filing of a criminal complaint against the bus driver, owner, and others involved in the tragedy demonstrates the critical need for swift action to avoid future catastrophes.
