ISLAMABAD ( Today News) : Negotiations between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) may come to a standstill as a result of the government’s decision to forego the PTI’s demand that a judicial commission be established on the May 9 event.
Sources claim that a response to the PTI’s requests has been drafted by the government’s negotiating team. As advised by its legal counsel, the ruling party has said that it would not form a judicial commission in relation to May 9.
According to sources, the ruling coalition feels that matters that are now pending in court cannot be the subject of a judicial committee. Only issues that are not being considered in court can be the subject of judicial commissions. According to the sources, challans for the events on May 9 have already been submitted to the courts, and there are no political prisoners related to May 9.
According to the written answer, information on the detained and missing individuals from November 26 must be sent. No action can be made to liberate them without names and information.
Within a few days, the government committee is supposed to send the speaker of the National Assembly its written response. The NA speaker will determine whether to convene the fourth round of negotiations after hearing the government’s response.
The PTI made written demands during the third meeting between the government and PTI committees. These included the release of Imran Khan and other party officials and employees, as well as the creation of a judicial committee to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26.
Irfan Siddiqui, a senator and PML-N leader, refuted allegations that the government has drafted a position on the PTI’s charter of demands.
He noted that it could take an additional week to complete the response since the parties in the government committee are seeking advice from their leadership.
