On Tuesday, terrorists attacked the Jaffar Express near Dhadar in Balochistan, killing three youngsters and the train’s driver.
The attack on a passenger train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar via Sibi put hundreds of passengers, including women and children, in severe risk. According to security officials, the assailants stopped the train in a tunnel in the Bolan Pass area, holding roughly 400 people hostage. Despite the treacherous terrain and isolated location, security personnel sealed off the area and launched a clearing operation to free those held prisoner.
According to security sources, 104 hostages were safely released, comprising 58 men, 31 women, and 15 children. Efforts were underway to secure the safe evacuation of the remaining passengers. Despite the difficult terrain and the terrorists’ exploitation of women and children as human shields, security forces pursued their strategic objectives.
According to security officials, 16 terrorists have been killed and numerous more injured during the continuing operation against the Jaffar Express assailants. To avoid security troops, the terrorists have broken into smaller groups amidst heavy shooting. Additional forces have been dispatched to support the operation.
Meanwhile, 17 wounded passengers have been sent to a local hospital for treatment. Security personnel continue to work to eliminate the remaining terrorists and assure the safety of all passengers.
Ambulances were deployed to the impacted region, however several rescue vehicles returning to Sibi reported problems reaching the victims. At the time of reporting, no wounded or killed persons had been transferred to Mach, Dhadar, or Sibi hospitals.
“Targeting innocent passengers demonstrates that these terrorists have no ties to Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan,” the security sources stated.
According to intelligence sources, the assailants spoke directly with their handlers in Afghanistan. Furthermore, evidence indicated that Indian and anti-national social media accounts were aggressively disseminating misinformation about the tragedy.
According to sources, the Indian media is boosting misinformation by using AI-generated movies, outdated footage, and false WhatsApp messages to incite unrest. Terrorist-linked social media accounts were also apparently coordinating with Indian publications to spread an anti-Pakistan narrative.
Security forces have pledged to conduct counter-terrorism operations until the last terrorist has been eliminated. Authorities asked the people to seek information from trustworthy sources rather than falling for false narratives spreading online.
Earlier, it was stated that the Jaffar Express was heavily bombarded between Gudalur and Peru Kanri. According to initial accounts, the train driver suffered significant injuries, and some passengers were also injured in the event.
Railway officials acknowledged that around 450 people were onboard the train’s nine coaches at the time of the attack, creating severe worries about their safety, and that contact with both the passengers and the train crew had been disrupted.
Railway and law enforcement sources confirmed that security agents went to the scene immediately following the incident. A search effort was begun in the surrounding region to find the perpetrators.
