Continuous rain and snowfall in Azad Kashmir have caused road closures and traffic inconveniences, especially in the Neelum and Leepa valleys.
Heavy snowfall, landslides, and avalanches have shut off many connection roads, stranding inhabitants as officials struggle to restore access.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a shallow westerly wave is impacting the area, bringing rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snow to the highlands. The prediction anticipates that precipitation will continue in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Wednesday. Temperatures in Muzaffarabad dipped to 8°C, while excessive humidity levels exacerbated the frigid period.
Local officials advise locals to avoid needless travel and take measures as further snowfall and landslides are forecast in the coming days. Meanwhile, emergency services are on high alert to aid impacted areas and remove roadblocks.
