Washington – Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, and US Senator Mark Kelly exchanged angry comments about Ukraine on social media.
Elon Musk labeled Senator Mark Kelly a “traitor” after he visited Ukraine.
Mark Kelly had recently traveled to Ukraine, where he spoke with troops, nurses, and citizens affected by the war.
Following his visit, Elon Musk stressed the need of continuing to help Ukraine while also criticizing Donald Trump’s attempts to undermine it.
Elon Musk responded by labeling Kelly a “traitor” on the social networking site X (previously Twitter).
Mark Kelly swiftly reacted to Musk, stating, “Traitor?” Elon, if you do not realize that preserving liberty is the cornerstone of America,Perhaps you should leave it to those who do.”
Kelly said, “He [Musk] is not a serious person; he should focus on making rockets.”
The disagreement illustrates the significant schism in US politics on the war in Ukraine. Mark Kelly and the Democrats want to keep backing Ukraine, but Elon Musk and other conservatives call for a rethinking of this strategy.
Later, when meeting with reporters on Capitol Hill, Kelly blasted Elon Musk even further. He stated, “Musk has hurt the country by advocating for tax breaks for billionaires. I served in the Navy for 25 years and participated in a war. But it appears Musk’s commitment is limited to millionaires rather than the American people or veterans.”
Kelly paid a visit to Ukraine following a tense meeting between Ukrainian President Zelensky and President Trump at the White House.
Elon Musk has previously made contentious remarks about Ukraine.
In 2023, he supposedly prevented Ukraine from striking the Russian naval fleet, prompting significant outrage.
