On Wednesday, the Federal Cabinet removed Finance Minister Miftah Ismail from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Following the meeting, Miftah Ismail stated that the fiscal deficit averaged 1,600 billion rupees per year during the previous government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, while the Imran Khan-led government increased this figure to around 5,600 billion rupees. He stated that the country’s total debt from 1947 to 2018 was 25,000 billion rupees, and that the PTI government added 20,000 billion rupees to this debt in just three and a half years.

Concerning power outages in the country, the Finance Minister stated that power plants with a capacity of 75,000 megawatts of electricity are closed due to the previous government’s ineptness and incompetence.
