To ensure peace and order in Lahore, the government enacts section 144.

The Punjab government stated on Monday that section 144 will be put into effect in Lahore for the following seven days. Activities like assembly, dharna, rallies, procession, and protest would be prohibited during this period, according to the new law.

The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, was used to enact the government’s announcement of the decision.

In order to avert public disruption, Section 144 of the law, which forbids groups of four or more persons in one place, may be put into effect in an emergency.
