On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that the institution had not received any directives to reactivate social media.
The PTA spokesman verified that mobile internet connections had been restored throughout the country, but that no directives had been issued to re-establish social media networks.
Previously, on May 9, the government put statewide limitations on mobile internet access and prohibited the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
