DUBAI (Today News) – Pakistan won the Under-19 Asia Cup on Sunday, beating India by 191 runs.
Pakistan set a challenging 348-run target for India in the Under-19 Asia Cup final, thanks to Sameer Minhas’ 172 here on Sunday.
India bowled out for 156 runs while chasing a tough target.
Dipesh Devindran scored the most runs for India, 36, followed by Surya Vanshi, 26, Arun Patel, 19, and Arun George, 16 before being dismissed. Kanshak Chauhan and Vedant Chauhan were guests at the crease and scored nine runs each.
Pakistan’s Ali Raza got four wickets, with Muhammad Siyam, Abdul Subhan, and Huzayfa Ahsan each taking two.
Earlier, after India won the toss, Pakistan batted and scored 347 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the 50 overs.
Minhas had a blazing innings, hitting 17 fours and nine sixes. He finished his century with 71 balls. He is the tournament’s leading scorer.
Ahmed Hussain scored 56, Usman Khan 35, captain Farhan Yousuf 19 and Hamza Zahoor 18. Muhammad Sayyam scored 13 runs, while Niqab Shafiq remained undefeated on 12.
Dipesh Devendran grabbed three wickets for India, with Khelan Patel and Hanil Patel each taking two.
Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf declared after the toss that the Green Shirts will enter the field fully prepared to win the title.
“The team’s morale is high and the players are determined to perform well in the final,” said the skipper.
The young Pakistani cricketers did excellently at the event. In the semi-finals, they defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets.
India defeated Sri Lanka in the other semifinal.
Pakistan has put its faith in batsman Sameer Minhas, who has 299 runs in four games, including a century and a half-century.
Abdul Sabhan, a speedster, and Muhammad Sayam, a left-arm bowler, top the bowling charts with 11 and eight wickets, respectively.
The two teams faced off in the group stage, with India winning.
Interestingly, Pakistan has won two ICC Under-19 World Cups but has yet to win an Asia Cup. In 2012, Pakistan and India were joint champions.
