ISLAMABAD: Despite the government’s persistent efforts to engage them on key system changes, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry claimed on Tuesday that the Opposition was only interested in creating conspiracies against it.

“We want to work with the Opposition on electoral and judicial reforms, as well as the process for appointing the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), but reforms are not a priority for Opposition leaders,” the minister said after the Federal Cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Fawad, who was joined by Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, claimed the administration, as well as the National Assembly speaker, had asked the Opposition to negotiate those three problems, but their leaders just wanted to overthrow the government.

He said that they (Opposition leaders) had wished from the beginning to be able to depose the existing administration after six months, and that they still wished for it. They had already gone through four years of delusions, and the following five to six years appeared to be no different.

“Even youngsters do not take her words seriously,” Fawad stated of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s criticism of the government.
