ANTIGUA, On Monday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, Pakistan U19 defeated Bangladesh U19 by six wickets in their ICC U19 Men’s World Cup fifth place semi-final match.
Pakistan lost four wickets while chasing down a 176-run target in 46.3 overs. With 79 points on 107 balls, Haseebullah led the way (four fours, four sixes). For the first wicket, Haseebullah and Muhammad Shehzad put up 76 runs. Irfan Khan’s 24 and Abdul Faseeh’s unbeaten 22 helped Pakistan win with 21 balls to spare.
Earlier, despite a century from middle-order batter Ariful Islam, Bangladesh were bowled for 175 in 49.2 overs. Ariful’s 100 off 119 balls included five fours and four sixes. Iftakher Hossain (25) was the only other batter to reach double figures.
Mehran Mumtaz had a fantastic stint, getting three wickets for 16 runs in his ten overs.
Pacer Awais Ali maintained his excellent bowling form, taking three wickets for 52 runs in ten overs.
Ahmed Khan and Zeeshan Zameer each grabbed a wicket.
