On Thursday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince to “develop” relations, in his first visit since the murder of writer Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul in 2018.

The Saudi state news agency SPA published photos of Erdogan hugging Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler who, according to US intelligence sources, sanctioned the plan against Khashoggi, which Riyadh denies.

According to SPA, the two “discussed Saudi-Turkish ties and methods to improve them in all spheres.”
