BUDAPEST (ICC) – Wanindu Hasaranga’s remarkable start to Sri Lanka’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier campaign saw him tie the record for the most consecutive five-wicket hauls in ODIs.
When he took 5/79 from 10 overs against Ireland, spin sensation Hasaranga joined Pakistan great Waqar Younis as the only spinners to take five wickets in three straight ODIs.
The 25-year-old leg-spinner has an astonishing 16 wickets from Sri Lanka’s first three ODIs at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 after beginning the run with 6/24 against the UAE and following that up with 5/13 against Oman.
