ISLAMABAD – A two-judge IHC court granted Nawaz Sharif protective bail in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases on Thursday, asking law enforcement agencies (LEAs) not to arrest the PML-N supremo until October 24.
Amjad Pervez and Azam Nazeer Tarar, Nawaz Sharif’s attorneys, appeared in court, while NAB prosecutors Rafey Maqsood and Afzal Qureshi presented arguments in the case.
Sharif’s lawyer, Tarar, said the PML-N leader had been branded a proclaimed criminal by a trial court, but the court has now stayed his warrants.
“Are you in possession of the said order?” inquired the IHC chief judge. Tarar stated that the order had been issued and that his colleagues were on their way to court to file it.
Later, the court granted protected bail to the former prime minister and prevented officials from detaining him in any of the two instances until October 24.
