LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AFP) – According to local media on Friday, a worker injured in an explosion at a chemical business in Slovenia has died from his injuries, increasing the total number of individuals killed in the tragedy to six.
A cistern erupted at a resin factory owned by the chemicals business Melamin in the municipality of Kocevje, 60 kilometres (40 miles) south of Ljubljana, on Thursday.
Melamin general manager Srecko Stefanic told reporters, “Unfortunately, our suspicions have been validated.”
He stated that the force of the explosion “did not allow them any prospect of life.”
Five individuals were initially reported dead, with six others injured, including two persons who were hospitalised with significant burns.
