LAHORE, (APP):Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi presided over the 8th Cabinet meeting on Saturday at the Chief Minister Office, where decisions were made to promote merit in the province and eliminate the recommendation culture by relaxing rules in departments and declaring the decision to make inductions through departmental committees null and void.
The Punjab Government approved the wheat purchasing strategy for 2023-2024.
The wheat purchase campaign will begin on March 10th throughout Punjab, with the Punjab government purchasing 35 lac metric tonnes of wheat.
395 wheat purchasing centres will be established around the province.
Interim CM Mohsin Naqvi has asked the Cabinet Standing Committee on Wheat to conduct a daily assessment of the wheat procurement campaign.
At the discussion, it was determined to provide massive relief to male and female students travelling on Metro Bus service and the Orange Line Metro Train.
Male and female students will be able to ride for free on the Metro Bus and the Orange Line Metro Train.
Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi asked the Transport Department to produce a summary as soon as possible in order to give free transportation to male and female students.
The Cabinet requested a proposal to start Metro Bus service at 6:00 a.m. instead of 6:30 a.m.
Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi said that thousands of labourers use the Metro Bus service and are expected to be at their workplace by 7:00 a.m. Thousands of workers will be able to get to their destinations on time.
At the meeting, approval was given for a proposal to decrease the circular debt of the Food Department by 300 billion rupees.
A Ministerial Committee has been formed to examine the decrease of non-AC public transportation charges. At the meeting, approval was given to form a Joint Coordination Committee for Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Murree. The Auditor General of Pakistan also approved three years’ worth of audit reports on Punjab government finances.
The appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Lahore Garrison University was approved.
The conference was attended by Provincial Ministers, the Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, and other relevant authorities.
